New Injury Type Checklists Help to Complete an Investigation

Sunday, February 19, 2017

[check*list (noun); plural (noun): checklists, a list of items required, things to be done, or points to be considered, used as a reminder

OWC/MCI is continuously evaluating ways to make our program work better for agencies and injured workers.  Making compensability decisions quicker and paying indemnity and medical bills as soon as possible is a key focus of the program.  The program has been successful in reducing these turnaround times, but there is always room for improvement.

To that end, OWC/MCI and the Agency Advisory Council thought that a variety of checklists aimed at arming you with the most common types of information the benefit coordinator will need in order to complete their investigation might be helpful.  Armed with this information, you may choose to start gathering and supplying the needed information as soon as you are made aware of the accident.  Knowing upfront, the kinds of information we will request, hopefully takes away some of the mystery surrounding the benefit coordinators’ questions and investigation.
