Wednesday, December 30, 2015 View Comments Comments (0)
WCS and MCI are pleased to announce the launch of a new and improved VLW-Employer Accident Report Portal.  We worked closely with select agencies to learn what would enhance your claim reporting experience and believe you will find the new application and the enhancements an improvement over the existing VLW.
Some of the new features include:
  • Web-based access - no more need for software.  Can file claims through your mobile devices.
  • Real-time notifications if two or more users are reviewing or modifying an accident report at the same time.
  • Auto-save feature.
  • Named user will only see their assigned agencies in a drop-down list.
  • No longer necessary to complete a second submission to file the claim.
  • Comprehensive history section will show all EARs submitted by other users of the same agency.
  • Addition of questions regarding return to work and drug/alcohol screening.
Here are some helpful tools for your transition to the new application.
  1. One-page flyer explaining features of new and improved VLW York Employer Accident Report Portal. View here.
  2. York FROI Portal User Manual. View here.
  3. VLW - First Report of Injury Quick User Guide. View here.
  4. Recorded Training - While we think the application is easy to navigate and intuitive, we have recorded training for the application which can be found in the learning center. This will be released to your KC administrators to pull into your portals today.  Please search for the course under:  DHRM-WC-VLW York Employer Accident Report Portal
We are rolling out the application to agencies every two weeks by claim team,  starting the week of December 21, 2015.  Please be on the look-out for an email from Steve Palczynski with the subject: Welcome to the New Employer Accident Report  --  FROI.YORKRSG.COM.  It will include your user name, instructions on setting your password and the link for York's VLW Employer Accident Report Portal.  You will have until January 31, 2016 to transition to the new application.  As of February 1, 2016 you will no longer be able to report accidents through VLW at  If attempting to do so, you will be directed to the new application.
We are excited to offer you this improved accident reporting tool!  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

New 1-hour Loss Control Training Sessions Cut to the Chase

Thursday, July 02, 2015 View Comments Comments (0)
Workers' Compensation Services, as part of a specialized project, have created bite-sized loss control training programs to be delivered on-site, in person, for those agencies that may not have the ability to send or allow employees to participate in the traditional 3-hour learning center training.
These topics cut right to the chase! The nuts and bolts of specific safety topics are shared from the traditional 3-hour topics. Topics include: Confined Space Awareness, Driver Safety and Crash Prevention, Ergonomics and more...
These programs are designed to be delivered in LESS than 1-hour so lunch and learns, pass downs, staff meetings, tailgate briefings, safety committee or other meeting opportunities can now incorporate a safety and health component.
These programs can be delivered with or without a projector/PowerPoint or other presentation tools. Multiple topics may even be paired together during a visit.
For more info, to schedule a session, or to suggest topic ideas, contact:

MC Innovations and Workers’ Compensation Services Community Support

Thursday, November 14, 2013 View Comments Comments (0)
In addition to providing quality claim and cost management services to the Commonwealth of Virginia workers’ compensation program, the MCI and WCS Teams also participate in giving back to the community. Over the past year and going into the holiday season our associates have been involved in the projects identified below. We are proud of our associates and their giving spirit.

Project Feedmore – The FeedMore Backpack Program is a major initiative to ensure that children in need have balanced, nutritious food to learn and grow. The concept is simple: children at risk of weekend hunger receive a bag of food that is child-friendly, nutritious, nonperishable, and easy to prepare/eat. Each BackPack offers enough food that children can easily assemble into six healthy meals over the weekend when schools are unable to provide breakfasts or lunches. By partnering with Communities in Schools, school staff, and local school systems, the BackPacks are distributed to children in need through the school system—discreetly—each Friday afternoon or before a long holiday weekend. As a way to support this worthy cause, during the 2013 football season on Fridays associates can donate money which then allows them to wear a jersey or shirt that supports their favorite football team. For the first five weeks of the season this event has generated over $125.00. To learn more about FeedMore go to

Richmond FoodBank – Over the course of the year we place barrels on the floor that are provided by the FoodBank. The Central Virginia Food Bank brings hunger relief to 31 counties and five cities in our region by acquiring needed foods and distributing these items to neighbors in need. To learn more about the FoodBank go to

Box Top for Education -  This is one of the nation’s largest school fundraising loyalty programs and has been helping schools succeed since 1996. With over 240 participating products, it’s an easy way for schools to earn cash for the things they need. Each Box Tops coupon is worth 10¢ when redeemed. Schools can use their Box Tops cash to buy whatever they need most, from books to field trips to playgrounds. Following an earthquake in Central Virginia in March 2011, the MCI/WCS associates have participated in this program to support the Trevillians Elementary School in Louisa, VA which was extensively damaged during the earthquake. To learn more about the program go to

Capital Diaper Network – This is a new project that was launched in November 2013. Associates are donating pennies or loose change to the Capital Diaper Bank, a non-profit organization that provides diapers to infants, toddlers and their families who are experiencing a financial crisis. Capital Diaper Bank is a member of the Red Cross Disaster Relief Services Partner for Virginia and part of the National Diaper Bank Network.  To read more about this organization and the work that they do, please go to
